Garage Theft
08/26/2009 - Darlene - Word of warning neighbors... someone ransacked my car and garage last night.. not sure if I left the garage door open (most likely) or if they have a way of raising the door with something... but in any event they didn't come in my house or my alarm would have went off... Sad to say that is one bad thing about our neighborhood... we have people who would take from others... Let's watch out for each other!
Car Window broken
10/05/2009 - Posted by Jerry - On Monday morning 10/5 I found the driver side window shot out of one of my cars. Did anyone else have this happen to their car?
New Approach to Car Jacking
10/05/2009 - THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE-- NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE) Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating.. You walk Across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You Start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your Parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle Of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your Doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or Whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach The back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out Of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically Mow you down as they speed off in your car. And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your Money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are Now compromised!
Auto Breakin
4/2/2009 - Last night somebody got into my unlocked car and went through it. This is the third time this year. Everybody needs to be careful. They tried to use the garage door controller to open it up and take more, but the battery has been out thank goodness.
Auto Breakin
02/24/2009 My car was broke into last night as well... We have had several episodes of similar happenings to our cars and also into our garage. But now I am certain that the people are being bolder and I think they are using the car buglaries to also transition into home invasions, many people keep thier garage door openers in their cars... we need to be more watchful of each other!
Mailbox Damage
02/24/2009 Two weeks ago I had my mail box knocked off its post, along with a lot of other neighbors; some even had the post knocked over.
Several months ago I found a half empty beer bottle in my front yard and the metal top laying on the ground by my car that I park outside in our driveway. I noticed on the side of my car that they used my car to open the beer bottle, it now has a ½ divot in the side with the accompanying scratch marks from the beer cap.
Garage Door
02/24/2009 A concerned neighbor posted the following notice on the WHOA website - we thought we should pass this important information along to everyone on our email distribution lists:
"Our garage door (eletronic overhead) was opened shortly after 3:00am this morning, 2/24/09. Tulsa Police advised if this happens randomly, residents should call 911 immediately. They suggested by investigating and turning on outside lights we likely warded off would-be prowlers. Be safe..."
If anyone notices suspicious activity please call the police, and be sure to inform the WHOA so that we can distribute this information to all of our neighbors.
Theft
3/30/2008 A white male teenager broke into a car in our driveway this morning and stole a radio/cd player and an MP3 player. We live on S. 88th E Ave. The neighbor across the street also had cars that were broken into and another neighbor about 3 houses down also had a car broken into. The teenager was about 17-20 years old, light colored hair of normal length, very attractive, about 5'10". He was carrying a backpack and had a skate board with him. Looked like he could have been an athlete.
Snatch and Grab
Attention neighbors. Myself and several others in the neighborhood; mostly along 75th, have been the unfortunate victims of the latest grab and dash craze. This seems to be a growing epidemic. Sunday afternoon between 12 and about 2:45PM I was working in the front yard and my wife was in the house. The garage door was open, and someone went in, took something out of my car and left. We were never the wiser until a phone call at 2:45 let me know that someone had found my stuff in a parking lot at 111th and Memorial. This also cleared up the question as to why the doors were open on my wife's car. So, if anyone has come out to their garage to find their car doors ajar, you might want to make sure nothing is missing. And don't let your proximity to your garage fool you. These people are bold and crafty. Were are in and out continuously and someone still get away. I said all that to say this......PLEASE, let's watch out for our neighbors. If you see a strange car hanging around or people loitering and looking suspicious. Try to remember the time, the place and something distinctive. And do not hesitate to call the police. 596-9222 is the non-emergency TPD number. At the very least this will give the police a point of reference.
Mail Theft
It has come to the attention of the Woodland Homeowners Association of a growing concern with mail theft. Thieves are targeting mailboxes and stealing outgoing mail during the day and night. Checks have been stolen and "washed" with a new payee name and dollar amount written in. A washed check is one that has been altered by using chemicals to erase the ink on the check.
Theft
Hello neighbors...just wanted to inform you that once again someone in our neighborhood has no morals or manners. I noticed today (E 75th St) that someone has reached over our fence or came into our back yard and stole our gas powered weedeater. In the last couple of years we have lost a toolbox, a chainsaw, a car break in (radar detector and cash missing). No telling how many other things that I am just not aware of!! So far no home invasion but it leaves me wondering if that is next??? Please, please, report anything that you see as suspicious because that is our best defense...to watch out for each other. I love this neighborhood and hate to see it violated by someone who should have been taught better.
Vechile Break In
Just wanted to inform you all that there have been some vehicle break-ins on our street. This past Saturday night, our daughter's car and one of our neighbor's cars were broken into. I believe these were pretty clever and experienced thieves, because they evidently used something to pop the lock, and didn't break any windows. They ran-sacked the vehicles, I'm assuming looking for anything of value...fortunately, nothing was taken from our daughter's car (or nothing that we can tell). I'm also assuming they just went down the street hitting random vehicles.
Just wanted to make you all aware of this, so that you might warn others of this happening. I know it probably happens a lot, but this was a first for us in this neighborhood. We all just need to keep an eye out and watch out for one another.
Not sure if there is a block captain on our street, but if there is not, we wouldn't mind being the block captains. Just let us know if we can help out in any way.
Thanks
